That's one way to get me to watch Top Chef Just Desserts, second would be to recreate the scene of Varsity Blues with Ali Larter....whipped cream is considered a dessert right??
Vh1's legandary, "Behind The Music" series is back with a feature on Ice Cube airing tonight at 10pm.....I'm gonna check it out for sure if not for anything else, the vintage sightings.
I finally got around to watching The HBO Sports documentary McEnroe/Borg: Fire & Ice. Another great look into a classic rivalry just like Magic & Bird: A Courtship of Rivals. McEnroe needed Borg to compete at the highest level just like Bird needed Magic which lends to the age old question......What are sports without rivalries????
Where do I start with these 2 shirts...... how bout the fact that Married with Children was one of the greatest shows of all time!!! If I was in a vintage t-shirt battle (picture American Idol of t-shirts) the Kelly Bundy t-shirt would be my grand finale and I would win hands down, even Simon would praise my shirt!!! When I was a young lad I used to dream about being the meat in a Kelly sandwich aka a threesome with Kelly Kapowski & Kelly Bundy. To this day when I lay my head down to sleep I pray the lord my soul to take and if I die before I wake, I pray I have a threesome in heaven with Kelly & Kelly! How dope would it be if David Faustino rocked the Kelly Bundy tee to a club and got on TMZ......yeah that's what I thought!!!! If you want either of these holler quick before they find their way into mi closeto!!!
Vintage 1990 Wayne's World t-shirt (sx XL) from back when it was an SNL skit. The movie debuted two years later in 1992 and I had a major crush on Cassandra Wong!!! I still NEED to put a licorice dispenser in my whip........Red Vines or Twizzlers, thats the question of the night!?!?!?
Family Matters is right up there with Fresh Prince of Bel Air for best sitcoms of the 90's. Steve was the epitome of a geek/nerd, with large, thick eyeglasses, "high-water" or "flooding" pants held up by suspenders, multi-colored cardigan sweaters, and a high-pitched voice. He professed unrequited love for neighbor Laura Winslow, perpetually annoyed her father, Carl, and tried to befriend her brother, Eddie. The best episode by far was the when Grandmama guest starred and him and Urkel won the 2 on 2 basketball tournament against Eddie and Kenny!
The Martin show a classic comdey in the early 90s and these 2 tees are proof in the pudding!
Sheneneh Jenkins played by Martin was a stereotypically flashy "Detroit ghetto girl" who was the owner/operator of Sheneneh's Sho' Nuff Hair Salon. Though Sheneneh was awkwardly tall and thick in build, she often characterized herself as a "la-a-a-dy." She lived in an apartment across the hallway from Martin's, and factored into many of the plots by picking fights with Gina, and especially Pam, out in the hallway. Shenneneh has appeared on Martin 27 times from Season 1-5.
WZUP is the fictional radio station that Martin DJ'd at. As the series progressed, plotlines saw Martin lose his job with WZUP and eventually move on to become the host of the talk show "Word on the Street," which aired on the small Detroit public-access TV station Channel 51.
A couple weeks back I posted a poll with 3 vintage In Living Color shirts; Men on Film, Homey D Clown and Wanda. The devil must have been voting because it was a tie between all three tees with 6 votes each. They are all so dope so I can see why it was a tie. We got another vintage In Living Color tee last week and it has the neon paint splatter logo on the front. Remember the opening credits with the Heavy D rap when all the actors were throwing paint and the Fly Girls shakin what their mama's gave them!!!
Speaking of the Twins check out this amazing vintage deadstock movie promo t-shirt that we just got in!!! I don't care what anyone says Danny Devito might be the funniest man alive! Maybe its the fact he wears crocs daily or maybe his love for Limincello (which I still need to try BTW) or all the great movies and tv shows he's starred in!! Any way you slice this shirt is quite possibly the coolest shirt ever and belongs in a museum of some sorts!!! If Danny Devito is reading this right now which is highly unlikely, next time you're in LA swing by the store (114 S. La Brea Ave) and take a Troll Foot picture!!!!
Jamie Foxx portrays Wanda Wayne, the ugliest woman in the world...so ugly, in fact, that no one wanted to be in the same room as her (in one episode, Dracula exposed himself to sunlight to get away from her). She supposedly is the long lost member of the group En Vogue but left because she was taking all of the men. One of these helpless individuals is often Tommy Davidson. In the final season of "In Living Color", Wanda had a child out of wedlock and searched for the father of a child (which ended in a cliffhanger). Trademark phrase: "I'm gon' rock yo world"
Damon Wayans plays an ex-con who works as a clown (real name Herman Simpson) for his parole agreement, but violently lashes out at anyone (usually by hitting them on the head with a tennis ball-filled sock) who attempts to make him perform the standard antics of the role - "I don't think so... Homey don't play dat!". His goal in life is to get even with "The Man", a personification of the white males he thinks are "holding him down". Near the end of most sketches, Homey would lead a group of children (played by the adult cast members) in a call and response sing-along, which would end with him degenerating into an angry/paranoid rant then intimidating the children into repeating verbatim.
Damon Wayans and David Alan Grier - In this parody of Siskel & Ebert, a pair of extremely effeminate gay men, Blaine Edwards and Antoine Merriweather, review films completely based on their potential for homoerotic content. Variations of this sketch include Men on Books, Men on Television, Men on Fitness, Men on Vacation, Men on Art, Men on Football and Men on Men. It was the source of many popular catchphrases such as, "Hated It!", "Fish!", "My second favorite form of liquid protein", "Three words - fa - bu - lous!" and "the yet unheard of Zorro snap, in Z formation!" (almost every sketch had a sassy variation of finger-snapping). In a two-part, season cliffhanger sketch, Blaine gets hit on the head by a stage light and gets a sort of amnesia, making him straight and conventionally "macho".
In Living Color was the best show in the early 90's and above are 3 vintage t-shirts to prove it! I wonder if they made a Handy-Man or Fire Marshall Bill t-shirt because that would be amazing!
If you dont watch IASIP that you dont know what your missing! I was a late bloomer sort of speak and started to watch it a couple seasons in but I'm hooked on a feeling (insert David Hasselhoff video). Anyways today the Paddy's Pub gang is bringing Christmas home with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: A Very Sunny Christmas, available on DVD and Blu-ray! This would make a great stocking stuffer along with some kitten mittens and a liquor-gun!!!
I havent watched South Park in forever but I just caught the new episode called Whale Whores where Stan takes action to stop the Japanese from killing the world's whales and dolphins. In the episode Cartman is playing rockband with Kyle & Kenny and straight killin Lady Gaga's Poker Face!! The episode also features Sig Hansen and the crew of the Time Bandit from Deadliest Catch....HILARIOUS!
The crew is back.......season 6 starts tonight at 10:30!!! Several surprise guest stars are rumored to appear such as Lil' Wayne, Tom Brady, LeBron James, Andrew Bynum, Steve Nash and 50 Cent to name a few.
Eastbound & Down: The Complete First Season came out on DVD today. I gotta admit I've only watched the 1st episode because I've been so busy but I'll probably pick up the DVD this week and watch the rest of it. With only 1 season under its belt, Eastbound & Down has people claiming its one greatest shows of all time which has to tell you something.......either they're drunk and stoned while watching it or it really is one of the greatest shows EVER!!!!! The dvd cover alone should make you want to watch it but if thats not doing it for you than just trust me and give it a watch!
