I finally got around to watching The HBO Sports documentary McEnroe/Borg: Fire & Ice. Another great look into a classic rivalry just like Magic & Bird: A Courtship of Rivals. McEnroe needed Borg to compete at the highest level just like Bird needed Magic which lends to the age old question......What are sports without rivalries????

Yesterday I went to the Flea Market to see if I could find any buried treasures so to speak. After a couple hours of digging I had several trash bags full of dope gear and on my way to the car to call it a day I stumbled upon a pair of vintage kicks. I was crip walking down the isle, minding my own business when out of the corner of my eye I spotted something. It's A Bird... It's A Plane... It's Superman!!!!! Actually it was a pair of vintage 1985 Nike Mac Attacks!! *Legal Flashback* I was watching a pair on eBay last year in my size (NIB) that sold for $1,000 BIN!!!!!! I calmly walked over, picked up the shoes, looked at the inside sz/date code and much to my dismay they were a sz 8 which I stopped wearing in 6th grade! Even though they weren't my size they're still a classic sneaker and hold a decent value to them so I asked the guy how much he wanted. He replied "$60" and I replied "YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS". He looked at me like I was crazy but then I told him the story and offered him $40 which he quickly agreed to. Dear Nike, please retro these in original form sometime in the near future, thanks!

Mac Attack...

Another great find from today is this vintage Nike McEnroe checkerboard tag jacket. I gotta be honest my girl found this too, she killed it today!!!!!!! When she showed it to me I said "YOU CAN NOT BE SERIOUS", she looked at me like I was crazy and almost put it back but then I told her the store behind the comment! We just sold a vintage red Nike Mcenroe suit the other day so it was nice to get a new Mac piece that quickly. I have never seen this jacket before in my life and if it was an XL I wouldve probably kept it but its a sz Small (can fit a Medium for sure). It has a couple spots on the front so I'm gonna get it cleaned then it will be ready to go!

Which Came First...

....the chicken or the egg. In this case the chicken is the McEnroe jacket and the egg is the Jordan jacket. As you can see in the picture above Jordan is rocking the exact same jacket that I posted below except for one minor detail; his has the wings logo on the chest instead of the checkerboard patch. It looks as if Nike made 2 versions of this jacket, one for his Airness and one for Johnny Mac. Either way you "patch" it these jackets are dope and super rare to come by. Make sure you watch the video if you havent seen it already, its a classic!!!!

Thriftin Aint Easy...

I went back home this past weekend and you know I had to get my thrift on. I got a bunch of snapbacks, some boxes of basketball cards, a bunch of dope vintage tees but the best thing I found was this vintage Nike Mcenroe jacket above. If you follow me on twitter than you've probably seen my "Live from the Thrift Store" tweets and this was one of them. I found this Mac jacket buried in the back of the ack and almost didnt even bother digging through it but Im glad I did! I have the black version in my personal collection and its one of my favorite vintage pieces jackets! Its just so simple and clean but the checkerboard patch lets people now that you can freak out on a referee at any given moment.......YOU CAN NOT BE SERIOUS!! If this was my size I would probably keep it for myself but its a Small (fits like a Medium) so for sale it goes.

Speaking of wrong size and vintage Nike Mcenroe gear, here is a vintage tee I have in stock that doesnt fit me. You dont know how many times I find stuff that I want to keep for myself but its not my size so I have to sell it. Just like the kids Mac Attacks I have I'm just waiting for the day this tee turns into a sz XL but I dont see that happening anytime in the near future. I love the old McEnroe logo and how they incorporated the tennis ball and checkboard print into it......well done!

Mac Attack...

I wanted to buy these so bad but wasn't gonna spend a stack on them. Above is a pair of OG Nike Mac Attack's from 1986 that just sold on eBay for $995.00 !!!!! The buyer had a best offer option and I sent 3 offers but he declined them all :-( I personally dont think these are worth $1,000 but thats the beauty of eBay.....someone out there thought they were worth that much and bought them, simple as that. I have a Deadstock w/box pair in stock but they are a kids size so I can only hope they transform overnight into a size 10.5 or 11 and I can wear them :-) FYI In 1978 John McEnroe signed an endorsement with Nike. Many of his antics, including kiss the ground were thought to be a way of highlighting his sponsor's gear. All of which was swallowed by an eager set of consumers.
