See Dick Run...

Just finished watching the ESPN 30 for 30 "Pony Excess," titled after the infamous "Pony Express" backfield of Eric Dickerson and Craig James that led the team in the early 80s. I didn't know much about the scandal so this was a great look inside the corruption that is College Football. Directed by Thaddeus D. Matula, a product of the SMU film school, the documentary chronicles the rise, fall, and rebirth of this once mighty team......we got snapbacks!!!

It's not crazy.......it's sports!!!

ESPN showing more vintage love. A couple months back they came in looking for vintage Eagles gear to use in an upcoming commercial. They picked out a bunch of dope stuff, some of which can be seen in the video above.....peep it!!!

30 for 30...

Tonight at 10PM est is the new ESPN 30 for 30 "June 17th, 1994" Directed by Brett Morgen. Do you remember where you were on June 17, 1994? Thanks to a wide array of unrelated, coast-to-coast occurrences, this Friday has come to be known for its firsts, lasts, triumphs and tragedy. Arnold Palmer played his last round at a U.S. Open, in Oakmont, Pa., the FIFA World Cup kicked off in Chicago, the Rangers celebrated on Broadway, Patrick Ewing desperately pursued a long evasive championship in the Garden and Donald Fehr stared down the baseball owners. And yet, all of that was a prelude to O.J. Simpson leading America on a slow speed chase in a white Ford Bronco around Los Angeles. Oscar-nominated and Peabody Award-winning director Brett Morgen will artistically weave these moments and others to create a unique and reflective look at a day that no sports fan could forget.

The U...

If you havent watched ESPN's 30 for 30 "The U" you need to stop what you're doing right now (leave work if you have to) and go watch it!!! For real its the best hour of TV Ive watched in years! In the clip above at :25 they show the school store with all the vintage Canes gear which is always dope to see! "The U" is documentary about the legendary University of Miami football teams from the 1980s. Billy Corben, director of the 2006 documentary Cocaine Cowboys (about the the city's cocaine epidemic during the same decade), directed tonight's film. The clip above is of the Hurricanes arriving in Phoenix in army fatigues after billing their Fiesta Bowl game as "war." The best part is when they kick it with 2 Live Crew who were big "supporters" of The U back in the 80's.

Must See TV...

I know where I'll be tomorrow night, watching the new 30 for 30 on ESPN! The “30 for 30” film project is a unique undertaking by ESPN Films to celebrate ESPN’s 30th anniversary by enlisting well-known filmmakers to create documentaries centered on the last 30 years in sports. the long-awaited new movie "Without Bias" will air tomorrow Nov. 3 at 8pm ET and if your a Celtics fan, NBA fan or better yet a sports fan in general this will be worth checking out! The fifth film in the series “Without Bias” by filmmaker Kirk Fraser is the story of college basketball sensation Len Bias who died suddenly in 1986 of a cocaine overdose. When Bias suddenly died two days after the 1986 NBA Draft, he forever altered our perception of casual drug use and became the tipping point of America’s drug crisis in the mid-80’s. Future generations continue to face the punishment of drug policies that were influenced by the public outcry after his heartbreaking death. Instead of becoming an NBA star, Bias became a one-man deterrent, the athlete who reminded everyone just how dangerous drug use can be.

Kings Ransom...

Watching "Kings Ransom"....chronicling the 1988 trade of hockey star Wayne Gretzky from the Edmonton Oilers to the LA Kings by Friday Night Lights director Peter Berg as part of the network's 30 for 30 series (30 docs celebrating ESPN's 30 years). Peter Berg actually came by the store about a month ago to get some vintage gear and scooped up the Nike Gretzky tee above. The shirt was from the late 80s when the trade went down and the front read "THE ICEMAN COMETH".

In Case You Missed It...

Lil Wayne is now the face of ESPN which is hard to really compute in my brain. Mr Lollipop himself has a blog on ESPN.com, he was on 1st & 10 a couple weeks back battling Skip Bayless and tonight he was featured on Around The Horn. I must say it was kinda awkard IMO, his monotone voice and random answers made for a interesting show to say the least. Woody was making fun of him in the beginning but in the end Weezy F Baby came out victorious like he did at the Grammys the other night. Whats next, Lil Wayne hosting SportsCenter....I guess we'll just have to wait and see. If you have a half an hour to spare watch all 4 videos above :-)

Weezy vs Bayless...

If you havent heard already Lil Wayne is the guest on ESPN's First Take show right now debating sports with Skip Bayless. Its interesting to see Lil Wayne out of his element and talking sports. Im not sure if ESPN is trying to get some publicity for the show or Skip just decided he wanted to battle the reigning heavyweight rap champion?????
