Last night I rolled out w/ @Bernardosays to see Jay Electronica at the Key Club. A quick stop at the Rainbow Room Bar & Grill for some drinks and let me tell you, it felt like we were in a Rock of Love episode. A few beers down the hatch and off to the Key Club where we watched about 6 opening acts *yawn* before Jay Elec blessed the mic. Once Jay got on stage it finally felt like a concert and not a talent show gone bad. All and all Jay killed it and be on the lookout for his debut LP (Act II) dropping soon.

2 Black, 2 Strong, 2 Live....
Remember The Phil Donahue Show??? If not, you didn't miss much. The show aired throughout the 90s which was the peak of the Hip Hop boom and the huge controversy with Miami based 2 Live Crew's 1989 album "As Nasty As They Wanna Be". A year later in 1990 Phil Donahue had a show about the whole rap vs. mainstream sensibilities issue which included a panel discussion of people from both sides of the fence AND (drum roll pleas) a live performance of “Face Down, Ass Up” by the 2 Live Crew themselves. Donahue filled his audience with a bunch of white folks (some older than dirt) with the point clearly being shock value, and shock they did. Without further ado, Uncle Luke rocking a vintage Chiefs Starter hat in one of the greatest rap videos of all time.....ENJOY!!!

The White Rapper Show...

I channeled my inner Bud Bundy today and decided to rock the Raiders script hat. People think NWA started the trend but you're all wrong, it was none other than the OG David Faustino!!!! Eazy E was in Compton one day chillin on the block and Bud Bundy was crusin in his 64 through the hood. Normally they would inflict pain on a white boy steppin on their turf but not this white boy, he was too fly. As he got closer they noticed he was wearing all black with a Raiders script hat and a lightbulb went off in Eazy's head. Next thing you know Eazy E & homies rolled to the local sporting goods store and bought out all the black Raiders hats. From that day on they would rock them religiously which led people to believe they started the Raiders/Kings hat trend and the rest is history.....
Be serious, how many people reading this have seen this video or even knew Bud Bundy rapped for that matter??? You gotta watch the video from start to finish!!!!

I'm Not a Rapper...
Another classic 90s NFL rap video for your viewing pleasure! Peep the 49ers script hats in the beginning and Jerry Rice might've had a rap career if he stuck with it!

Throwback Video...

Yo ho ho and a pint of Brass Monkey
And when your girlie shakes her hips - she sure gets funky!
We used to watch the Licensed To Ill VHS all the time back in highschool! I wish I would've been old enough to see the Beasties back in the Licensed to Ill days. I didn't go to my first Beasties concert till the mid 90's when Ill Communication dropped. Patenteinty waiting for new tour dates to be announced....
