Blue Chips...

I used to love this movie mainly because I was a huge Shaq & Penny fan back in the day. Pete Bell (Nick Nolte), a college basketball coach for fictional Western University Dolphins, is under a lot of pressure. His team isn't winning and he can't attract any new players. The stars of the future are secretly being paid by other teams. This practice is forbidden in the college game, but Pete is desperate and has pressures from all around after a losing season. Greedy "friend of the program", Happy, will stop at nothing to get these star players. This includes giving a Lexus to Neon Boudreaux (Shaq), and a house to Butch's (Penny) mother. He also gives a tractor to Ricky's father as well as "bags of cash," just to sign these players up. He will even go as far as to buy one of them a nuclear surfboard, which makes him run to the cash machine. With Ed hard on the case, Pete continues to cover himself with dirty lies and money.
