February 9th, 2003: On Michael Jordan’s 14th appearance in the 2003 All-Star Game, he was not voted as the starting guard for the East. But his young teammates, Tracey MacGrady and Allen Iverson both offered him their starting spots. "It's respect for the elders, if you want to look at it in that sense," Jordan said Saturday, a day before his last All-Star appearance, and the first as a reserve. Meanwhile, Kobe Bryant, the player closest to Jordan in both skills and mannerisms, paid a special tribute of his own by wearing a pair of Air Jordan III in the game, the same pair Jordan had worn when he was playing for the Washington Wizard. And just before the end of the regulation time, Kobe then made two free-throws to tie the game and forced an overtime, ending Jordan’s chance of making the game winning shot. Michael Jordan ended up with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals while Kobe had 22 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. A pretty solid All-Star Game for both players, and as Jordan said before the start of the game, "I leave the game in good hands." Source
