M is for Mochi...

Another deluctible treat broght to you by Trader Joe's !!! This time around its a frozen treat called Mochi which are small balls of ice cream wrapped inside a mochi covering. There are 6 flavors of Mochi available: chocolate, mango, green tea, coffee, vanilla, and my personal favorite strawberry! If you like Ice Cream (who doesnt??) and are in the mood to try something new I suggest picking up a pack of Mochi's next time you visit Trader Joe's :-)

If you like Mikawaya brand mochi, then you really should try Yukimi Daifuku by Lotte. Their mochi ice cream is absolutely delicious. ^_^

I'm not too sure what area you are in, but I picked mine up at Kam Man in Quincy(Mass.). I would assume that most asian supermarket chains would have them. It's almost impossible to find somewhere online to order them(I've tried and only found one place in Australia but they won't ship here). If you go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supermarkets_in_the_United_States#Asian

It has a list of some stores and the states they are in. I really prefer them over Mikawaya. The mochi are soft even at freezing temp. and the vanilla ice cream tastes so good. I don't know how to explain it well but the Mikawaya vanilla ice cream just tastes cheap to me. I bought every single flavor when I went to Kam Man, lol. I'd have to say that out of the Mikawaya the Mango and Strawberry were the best though. Also, another really good dessert I had at a Thai restaurant was fried bananas with Matcha ice cream. Yum!
