Above is one of my favorite SLAM magazine covers of all time. The issue is from 1996 and the title is Ready or Not..NBA rookies set to blow up. The saying came true for a couple of the players featured but some fell victim to the HYPE!!! Although Alan Iverson was the first overall pick from the ‘96 draft he wasn't featured on the cover.
-Ray Allen aka Jesus (from the movie He Got Game) is currently on the Boston Celtics and won his 1st championship last year.
-Marcus Camby got traded to the Clippers this year and despite some off the court problems in the past he remains 1 of the best defensive players in the league
-Stephan Marbury aka Starbury is currently riding the pine for the NY Knicks and wasting space!
-Shareef Abdur-Rahim was unable to recover from two arthroscopic knee surgeries and retired from the NBA in September.
-KOBE is pretty much the best player in the league but he cant seem to win a championship without Shaq (insert Shaq's freestyle...KOBE how does my ass taste).
